Friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve The Friends of Broadstone Nature Reserve have a tasks coming up on 5th March, 10.00AM Fontmell Road Entrance. There is also a dawn chorus walk planned for 1st April, 7.00AM Fontmell Road. There is a walk planned for Canford Heath on 16th April meeting at Gravel Hill lay-by 14.00 hrs. Countryside Wardens The Countryside Wardens have introduced two rare 'British White' cattle on to the enclosure on Barrow Down to carry out grazing duties on the heath there. They will probably stay fro 2-3 months, then be moved to the wet heath enclosure on Corfe Hills (at the end of Fairview Drive) to provide the same service. RSPB The next RSPB meeting is a talk about Skokholm Island, Thurs. 9th March 7.30 PM at Upton Community Centre. A Poole Harbour bird-boat trip is scheduled for Sunday 19th 11.00 am. Details from Brownsea Island Ferries tel 01929 462383. Dorset Countryside Volunteers Dorset Countryside Volunteers have no tasks in the immediate area, but are always keen for new members. Greenlink Things are beginning to liven up. Birds, Dolphins, Astronomy are all in the list on the Greenlink Website - www.greenlink.co.uk. Green link are also sponsoring a one day symposium on 22nd March, about joining up bridle paths and lanes to form a 'Greenways' network in E Dorset and W Hants. Trailway The plan for the trailway has now passed through the management committee stage, and some urgent work on re-surfacing parts of the way, have already been done.
