Community band plays for Help the Heroes

The Broadstone Community Concert Band, led by Damon Corio, presents an evening of light-hearted foot-tapping entertainment on Saturday 29th June at 7.30 at Poole Lighthouse. The concert is in aid of Help the Heroes.
The band, led by Damon Corio, was established in 1989. It aims to make music "cool" by involving as wide a range of ages and talent as possible. Rehearsals take place every Thursday evening at St. John’s Parish Church, Broadstone, and the band offers an ideal opportunity to practise and perform whilst raising money for chosen causes. (More trombones, tubas, French horns and clarinets are always welcome, says Damon.)
Between 50 and 60 brass and woodwind players, aged from 13 upwards, will perform a programme of military marches, selections from films and stage shows including The Lion King and Mary Poppins, plus some brand new arrangements. This is the third time the band has played in such a prestigious venue.
Money raised will go to Help the Heroes whose mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for our wounded and their families. The band’s last concert - in aid of local charity LEAF - raised £ 1300.
