Success for ​Broadstone Art Society exhibition


Broadstone Art Society has held its summer exhibition at the Youth Centre in Moor Road, Broadstone. Christine Sanders, chairman said the exhibition had been successful both in terms of sales and artistically.

The prize for People in Painting judged by Maggie Farmer, resident artist at Pavilion Dance, was won by Margaret Hasted for her Girl in the Red Dress. Runner Up was John Britton with In Italy in 1958 . Maggie also commended work by Sally Ann Staples for Landscape of the Human Form, Gill Hunt for Summer Read, Patricia Burns’s montage 10 Minute Drawing and Andrea Hook’s Frank and Honor’s Discussion over a Crossword.

The award for the most popular painting at the exhibition, voted by the public was won by Jeffrey Bradley for Low Tide at Sandbanks. This was also one of those chosen for the posters advertising the exhibition as was Andrea Hook’s painting.

Jeff was also chosen by Dennis Hill as the winner of the Presidents’ Award.
